Winner to Advance to Free Flow Tour Finals in Salt Lake City
Burr Ridge, IL — July 22, 2008 — Joey Dillon won the skateboard park competition this weekend at the Free Flow Tour’s Albuquerque, N.M. stop, becoming a winner on the Tour’s 2008 season.
Following Saturday’s action at Los Altos Skatepark, 16-year-old Dillon of Wichita, Kans. took home the skate park title, while a pair of Albuquerque natives -- Stone Bennet, 11, and Jacob Johnson, 17 -- took home the second- and third-place honors, respectively.
“I’m happy that I was able to win the contest, especially since I was up against some really good guys,” Dillon declared following his win. “I’m really excited to go to the Dew Tour. Salt Lake City all the way!”
“We were truly happy to host the Free Flow Tour in Albuquerque once again,” Drew Stuart, the Executive Director of NMX Sports, said. “We had a tremendous amount of talent skating from all over our region, and we even had competitors from as far as Wichita, Kans. [800 miles away] who came through to compete. We would like to wish Joey Dillon all the best as he heads to SLC to compete in the Free Flow finals. The FFT is a great event that provides all competitors the opportunity of a lifetime.”
With the win, Dillon earns an automatic bid into the Free Flow Tour finals that will take place at the AST Dew Tour’s Toyota Challenge, September 11-14, 2008.
