1. HOW TO ENTER
Participants must complete the Entry Form and the Affidavit of Eligibility and
Liability/Publicity Release (to be signed by contestant's parent or legal guardian on site or in
presence of a notary public if contestant is under 18 years of age) available
online HERE.
These forms will also be available at host parks two weeks prior
to their scheduled contest. See website for the list of participating parks and contest dates.
In addition, contestants must pay a park usage fee if applicable prior to admittance to the
park; the individual parks set this price. Eligibility requirements apply; see Rule 2.
2. ELIGIBILITY
The Free Flow Tour is open to skate contestants 18 years of age or younger, and BMX
riders 21 years of age or younger on the day of the regional event, male or female.
All competitors must be of amateur status. See Rule 3. Contest is open to competitors
from any country; however AST will only provide flights to the finals from airports
within the USA. There will be a separate Junior Jam that will be held for
beginner skaters age 12 and under (winners of the Junior Jam do not qualify for
the finals in Salt Lake City). Employees of Fuse, AST, NBC, or any
participating partner of the Free Flow Tour or the AST Dew Tour are not
eligible to compete.
3. AMATEUR vs. PRO
All Free Flow Tour competitors must be considered an amateur athlete to participate
in the Free Flow tour. The following guidelines have been set to determine
Free Flow tour amateur eligibility:
- If you have competed in a Dew Tour event, including Open Qualifiers, you are considered a professional. The only exception would be if you have ever received a special invitation from the Dew Tour —as an amateur— and maintained your amateur status.
- If you have competed in a professional contest and accepted prize money you are considered a professional.
- If a sponsor is providing you with money that is part of your income, you are considered a professional.
AST and FFT Management will confirm an athlete's
amateur status prior to each contest, and notify participants if they are
NOT eligible to compete. AST and FFT Management reserve the right to
further look into an athlete's amateur status following each FFT event and
prior to the FFT Finals. AST and FFT management reserve the right to
disqualify an athlete at any time if they do not adhere to the guidelines
stated above.

6. FORMAT
SKATE AND BMX PARK FORMAT
Free Flow will recommend that all parks run their contests following jam format. If
a park decides that jam format is not the best option they will communicate
this with Free Flow staff who will approve their recommended format before
contest day.
JAM FORMAT
5-8 competitors will skate / BMX on the course at the same
time for 5-7 minutes. The top two skaters from each heat will advance
into the next round. There will probably be enough competitors to have 2
semifinals heats and a final heat.
Example:
Junior Jam has 30 competitors sign up.
- Park will run 6 heats of 5 competitors. Each heat will last 5 minutes.
- The top 2 from each heat advance to the finals leaving 12 competitors in the semifinals.
- 2 semifinal heats are run with 6 competitors in each.
- The top 3 from each semifinal heat advance to the finals leaving 6 competitors in the finals.
- Choose top three in the finals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
Free Flow Open has 70 competitors sign up
- Park will run 11 heats with roughly 6-7 kids in each heat.
- The top 2 from each heat advance to the next round meaning you have 22 competitors advance.
- You run four 2nd round heats with 5-6 kids in each heat.
- Depending on time constraints you can either take 1 kid from each 2nd round heat to make up one final heat -OR- 2 kids from each 2nd round heat to make 2 semifinal heats of 4 in each, then a final heat with the top 2 from each semifinal.
* The format can be changed at any time upon discretion of the host park
SKATE AND BMX VERT FORMAT
The Free Flow vert contests will be run in the following format.
- 1st round: each competitor will get 2 timed 45 second runs.
- The top 10 (# depends on # of competitors) will advance to the finals where they will again receive 2 timed 45 second runs.
* The format can be changed at any time upon discretion of the host park
7. JUDGING CRITERIA and JUDGES PRIZING
- Overall Style and Board/Bike Control.
- Variety of Tricks and Park Usage.
- Technical Ability.
- Consistency.
- Attitude.
Judges will rate which contestant they feel best meets all criteria as set
forth above. At the conclusion of each session the Judges will meet, review
their ratings and comments and then choose the winner(s) for each heat as a
group. In the event of a tie (or Judges are deadlocked on a decision) a 2
minute skate off will occur to determine the winner.
The judges will consist of a total of at least three (3) independent third party
judges that are representatives of Fuse, an agent of Sponsor, the hosting Skate
Park and, based upon availability, a professional skateboarder/BMX rider. Each
